FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Fusion?

Fusion is a ministry of Southside Baptist Church. This dynamic children’s ministry was created to help parents and kids come together in learning a new biblical virtue each month.  It is a weekly (each Wednesday @ 6:30 p.m.), one hour, fun-filled, interactive, multi-media shared experience designed for families. The Fusion building is located behind the main auditorium.

What is Fusion Clubhouse?

Fusion Clubhouse is an interactive website that links the weekly Fusion production to the your computer.  Inside, you will find games, videos, blogs, FAQ’s, and a parents section that will further enhance the Fusion experience.

Why does Fusion exist?

Fusion was created to better help Southside Baptist Church’s children’s ministries partner with the families of our community.  We believe the Bible states that parents are ultimately responsible for the spiritual development of their children (Deuteronomy 6:4-9). In one year, a parent will spend approximately 3000 hours with their children.   When compared to the roughly 100 hours they spend in church per year, we realize that no one has more influence on a child than a parent.  Because of this, we believe that what happens at home is more important than what happens at church.  We desire to partner with parents by giving them the tools that can help them foster spiritual growth in their children.

Who should attend Fusion?

Kids in first through fifth grade AND their families.  All parents have an open invitation to attend with their children.

When is Fusion?

Every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.  On occasion we will take a Wednesday off, but we will announce that in Fusion and on the Fusion Clubhouse. We will give you plenty of notice beforehand.

Where is Fusion?

In the Fusion building, of course!  This building is located behind the main auditorium on the Southside campus.  An usher or greeter can help you locate this building.

Where does my child sit during Fusion?

There is a section in front of the stage designated for the kids.  Each child sits on the floor, usually near children of similar age.  We ask that kids sit in this section unless a parent or adult family member wants them to sit with them in the adult section.

Can I sit on the floor with my child?

We ask that parents sit in the adult section.  Due to safety concerns, we only allow approved volunteers on the floor with the kids. The padded seats in the adult section are much more comfortable anyway!

What do I do with my pre-school aged children?

Southside Baptist Church has a WONDERFUL preschool program in the main church building.  Awali Land is for children from birth through kindergarten. This program is specifically designed for pre-school aged children.  If you desire to bring your preschooler to Fusion, they must sit with you in the adult section.  Preschoolers are not allowed, at any time, to sit on the floor with the first through fifth grade children.  We have found that preschoolers stay much more focused and content if they remain with their parents.

How can I get my child if I need to leave early?

We're sorry but that is not allowed. No, we are just kidding! If you need to leave Fusion before the production ends, please ask a volunteer in the back atrium for help.  They can then locate your child and make sure they can exit as quietly as possible as to not interrupt that production.  Of course, you could just stand up and scream, but everyone else would probably look at you funny.
